Homicide may be my All-Timer. I never understood why it wasn't a huge show. Maybe today when you can get by w/ 1 million viewers and downstream revenue it would be different. But even in syndication it does poorly. That show is transcendent. Remember the show w/ Vincent D'Onofrio on the subway platform ?
Any show with that much Tom Waits music ... And I love Meldrick. And Giardello, Pembleton, Bayliss...
Never could abide Kellerman though.

Agree - whenever the conversation gets to TV shows, this is #1 on my list. Great characterizations, terrific writing, sharp editing and camera, all guts... and if this is your genre, then I recommend its offspring: Southland on TNT, and to a lesser extent, Detroit 187 on ABC. Southland really has stuff to chew on.
